Probability of fire ignition and escalation

Probability of fire ignition and escalation - establishing a conceptual framework and models to predict bushfire ignitions and escalation for strategic and tactical bushfire management planning.

This research is being undertaken for the Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI).

The projects aims to:

  • establish conceptual framework and probabilistic models to predict bushfire ignitions and escalation for strategic and tactical bushfire management planning.

The project will provide DEPI with:

  • the project plan and reports;
  • a literature review of existing approaches;
  • a conceptual framework for incorporating uncertainty arising from bushfire ignition and escalation into strategic and tactical bushfire management planning;
  • a probabilistic bushfire ignition and escalation model.
  • an improved risk and adaptive management planning framework through systems development support and training; and
  • a PhD or related report.
