This program addresses the scenario where the risk has translated into a direct threat.

This particularly considers extreme events such as 7 February 2009 in south-east Australia; these events are irregular and not as well understood as more routine occurrences. Particular consideration wil be given to the role of incident co-ordination at the levels above the incident management team, and the ability to obtain timely situational awareness consistent with appropriate fire prediction and warnings, together with the ability to resource these effectively and sustainably. This program further considers the impact of events on important infrastructure, resource and the environment.

Prof Rod Keenan, of the University of Melbourne, is a Prinicipal Scientific Advisor at the Bushfire CRC. He will provide a guiding overview to many of these projects:
